IN-SPIRE

In 2009, 400 years after Henry Hudson founded what is now New York, a pioneering mindset has reemerged. Environmental consciousness has ignited a new type of economy and attitude in our conception of space usage. The Buiksloterham development on the banks of the IJ river in the north of Amsterdam is an iteration of this change in mindset. Within the next few years the new district will become a front-runner in sustainable development. To stimulate this ambition, a new Institute on the banks of the IJ is envisioned that will facilitate the pioneers of the sustainable economy. The Institute for Sustainable Products, Innovations and Research Exchange (InSPIRE) will function as a mediator between the scientific, entrepreneurial, financial and public realms with sustainable development as its focal point. It will be a place where innovators of this field can settle, experiment, learn and subsequently inspire. As well as Fort Amsterdam, InSPIRE will have a catalyzing effect on its environment.
