Faced with rapid city growth, Amsterdam municipality saw potential in the former industrial areas in Amsterdam-Noord for developing new sustainable and innovative neighbourhoods. In the Klaprozenbuurt neighbourhood, in Noord’s western periphery, the city invited local design offices to create a new zoning plan and encourage a unique participatory design process in which private and public interests can be realised at the same time.
