The Oedipus Brewery, located in the former industrial harbour area Havenkwartier in Amsterdam, is a transformational development of a cluster of mid-century industrial buildings. Space&Matter guided the participatory design process towards a multifunctional space with a brewery, café-restaurant, artist studios and offices. The core of the project is the wooden ring structure around the courtyard. The structure incorporates reclaimed industrial doors, blending aesthetics with practicality while showcasing a commitment to repurposed materials. The doors allow staff to control open and closed spaces, creating fluid connections between the building, the neighborhood, and the lush courtyard.
